Periodontal specialist – Dr Jose Zurdo

Dr Zurdo graduated in 1986 from the University of Barcelona, Spain, and then commenced working in Victoria, Spain as partner of a large private dental practice focusing on Periodontics and Implant Dentistry until 1994. From 1994-1995 Dr Zurdo completed a one- year postgraduate degree programme in association with the European Society of Oral Rehabilitation, Implantology and Biomaterials and New York University College of Dentistry (ESORIB, NYU). From there he studied at the University of Texas in 1998, followed by a three year full-time degree programme in 1999 at the world famous centre for periodontal teaching and research the Goteborg University in Sweden. There he was awarded a University Diploma and Specialist Certificate in Periodontics (approved by The European Federation of Periodontology).

To complement his clinical work, Dr Zurdo also lectures regularly. In 2003 he was an honorary clinical lecturer in the Department of Periodontology at the Eastman Dental Hospital; and in 2002 he lectured at the ‘Ariminum Research & Dental Education Center' in Rimimi, Italy, in collaboration with the University of Gothenburg (Sweden).

Dr Zurdo is also trained in medico-legal report writing, having worked at st.ann’s dental for 3 years.
